Just Put Your Lips Together and Blow!

This is the most outrageous cake I've made so far, as you can well see! It was a coffee-chocolate cake with fluffy white filling/frosting. I am embarrassed and quite proud of this creation! Here is to Jonathon's bday!

Happy Birthday Emily! This Ariel cake was a triple layer (devil's food and vanilla) with a strawberry marshmallow filling. A bit on the sweet side, but still yummy!! Please forgive the eyes...

"It's time for change"

Well guys it's a done deal...no more night shift at Winthrop. As of Feb 2, I will be part of the Open Heart Surgical Team! Day shift from now on! So to celebrate the new beginning, I made a chocolate devil's food cake with mocha raspberry buttercream! After work some friends and I went to Novita in Garden City. I am very lucky to have such great co-workers who I can call friends! On Saturday I finally had the opportunity to see "August: Osage County." Oh what a play! The cast was superb. Probably the best acting I ever saw on stage! Tomorrow is Polar Bear Plunge...check for later posts with photos from that event!

Well folks! Happy New Year 2009! Me and the bf saw our first Broadway show of the year. We took the nephew to see "Shrek: the Musical!" Not as good as the film, but not terrible. Sutton Foster as Fiona was great! Brian D'Arcy James was good, but we didn't care for the actor playing the donkey! Music was cute. We had a nice lunch at Junior's and then to the movies to  see "Valkyrie". Tom Cruise was surprisingly good.

Joyeux Noel

My first Buche de Noel! Not too difficult to make! A chocolate genoise cake with a chocolate-brandy meringue buttercream filling and frosting. Decorated with fondant poinsettia and holly, and marzipan mushrooms. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas!

We Need a Little Christmas!

Here is a festive birthday cake I made for two co-workers, Nancy and Terry, in the Operating Room at Withrop Hospital. A Starbucks liquer-flavored chocolate cake with a sweet fluffy meringue filling and frosting. Happy Birthday Girls! Go team Winthrop!
