Friendship, Friendship...What a perfect blendship!

Hello all! There are people in your life that no matter how much time has elapsed between get-togethers, you just pick up where you left off. Well I am lucky I have one of those friends. AK and I had a fantastic fantastic dinner at Papa Razzi in Westbury last week. Although the food and cocktail were perfect, it was the company that made the evening. Everyone should have a friend like AK! I can't believe we are off to Curacao tmrw...I just want a cocktail on the beach so bad, I can taste it now!

New Tat

Hey guys! I did it yet again....a new tattoo...This make number 5. This one might be the most personal and most meaningful. To remind you all about the old ones: spider on my pelvis, sun on my lower back, pride symbol on my left shoulder, star on my left buttock, and now.....symbol of 2 men on my inner right ankle. I have always wanted this symbol on my body, but was never in the right place in my life to feel I earned it. I have been extremely blessed in my life. I have a family who is always there for me, and not just my immediate family. I have friends who love me, and I have an amazing career in which I change people's lives. Most of all I have had significant others who have changed my life, and will always have a special place in my heart. Life works in crazy ways sometimes and now I have a special person who I enjoy being with every moment I can. When we are apart, I feel a void. When I am with him, I am complete and happy to be within my own skin. He makes me so happy to be the person I am, and the most comfortable.

Caumsett Park

Hey all!! My fellow Long Islanders this entry is for you. If you haven't visited Caumsett Park in Lloyd Harbor, you must go. Paul and I spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon walking on the grounds and on an old cement bench on the beach. Not only was the weather perfect, so was the time we spent together. Thanks to PJ, there is now a list of places on Long Island that I will be visiting before the summer is over. From there we had a night of over-eating in Huntington. Dinner at Tomo, a Japanese Hibachi restaurant. I had an apple martini on an empty stomach. Those who know me well, know I was feeling that right away!!!! Then it was off to Ben and Jerry's for a huge waffle cone, and on the way to the car, we found the Cupcake Gourmet. Oh my!!!! yes we had 2 cupcakes! A snickers cupcake and a strawberry Oreo cupcake. Oucha Magoucha Delish!!! Not only was I drunk, I was overloaded on sweets. Probably the first time that has ever happened! Anway, 7 days until Curacao. I'm so glad John has decided to join me. He has had a rough few weeks. I have 2 birthday cakes to create when I get back from vacation. My sister will be helping me on one. The designs are so fun and fit the birthday person to a "tee!" I'll keep you posted!

Louder Than Words

Hey friends!!! Ok, I re-listened to some of my cds this week. Thanks to PJ, I am consolidating my cds into binders, and along the way I have encountered cds I haven't listened to in a very long time. Due to the fact I have over 1200 of them, I forget which ones I have. So I came across Tick, Tick... Boom! It was a little show off-Broadway written by Jonathan Larson, the creator of Rent. It starred one of my favorite Broadway Men, Raul Esparza!!! Well there is a song titled Louder Than Words that I just haven't stopped playing in 2 days. I was driving in my car to work, and it moved me to tears. It's a rock song that has the amazing match of words with music.

Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our finger through the flame?
Why do we leave our hand on the stove-
Although we know we're on for some pain?
Oh, why do we refuse to hang a light?
When the streets are dangerous?
Why does it take an accident
Before the truth gets through to us?

Cages or wings?Which do you prefer?
Ask the birds.
Fear or love, baby?Don't say the answer
Actions speak louder than words.

Why should we try to be our best
When we can just get by and still gain?
Why do we nod our heads
Although we know the boss is wrong as rain?

Why should we blaze a trail
When the well worn path seems safe and
so inviting?
Now- as we travel we see the dismay-

Cages or wings?Which do you prefer?
Ask the birds.
Fear or love, baby?Don't say the answer.
Actions speak louder than words.

What does it take to wake up a generation?
How can you make someone
Take off and fly?

If we don't wake up and shake up the nation
We'll eat the dust of the world
Wondering why.

Why do we stay with lovers
Who we know, down deep
Just aren't right?

Why would we rather
Put ourselves through hell
Than sleep alone at night?

Why do we follow leaders who never lead?
Why does it take catastrophe to start a revolution?
If we're so free, tell me why?

Cages or wings?Which do you prefer?
Ask the birds.
Fear or love, baby?Don't say the answer
Actions speak louder than words.

Why "Jack of Cakes"?

Ok...so people keep asking me why "Jack of Cakes?" So here's the explanation...Those of you deprived television watchers, there is a show on the Food Network called "Ace of Cakes." It is an amazing bakery, Charm City Cakes, led by Duff, who creates the most amazing, outrageous, and inspirational cakes. The Jack comes from my Broadway Dance Center friends (Lane, Marguerite, and Joseph...miss seeing you guys all the time!). They would refer to me and Marguerite as Jack and Karen from "Will and Grace."....So Jack is in homage to Jack McFarland and "Ace of Cakes." Plus I refuse to be called "Queen of Cakes!!!!!!!!!"

Sunday in NYC

Hey folks!!! It was a very interesting, fun , tiring, and well -worth weekend! Spent Saturday morning teaching my students the remainder of their recital pieces. The advanced hip-hop class will be performing to a remix of Idina Menzel's Defying Gravity. If only they can retain what we go over the previous week! Oucha Magoucha!! The Fosse class will be recreating Crunchy Granola Suite, much better than the other class!!! Then off to lunch with RW, was great to see him, then to Barnes and Noble for a Fodor's Caribbean Guide Book...only 3 weeks until Curacao!! Had to go tanning, don't want to burn too bad when I get there! Damn I need a vacation! It's been an emotional rollercoaster this week...Then off to a birthday party with PJ. OY VEY! The highlight of the night was definitely meeting Aunt Barbara ( you must see her on you.tube....look for an upcoming cake being featured in one of her videos!!!!)

Sunday was fun! Brunch at Tea and Sympathy in the village. A quaint little English restaurant. The apple-mango tea and tuna melt were absolutely scrumptious!! Then it was chocolate time at The Chocolate Bar...was delicious, but not Leonides...now that's some fine chocolates (thanks to Miss Willa!)...Then we saw my man, George Clooney in Leatherheads. Another OY VEY!!! It was disastrous!!! We didn't like it at all!!!

Then it was some time wasting at Bloomingdales, and actually sat for some coffee and yummy cupcakes on the 6th floor...Then it was off to a play reading, which PJ took place in. An interesting stage-adaptation of Dog Day Afternoon. Overall, a talented bunch of actors!! Well I leave you now, I have cakes to create!!!

I'll Cry for You Patti Lupone

This entry is dedicated to the woman who gets me through my times of woe. Just to look at a picture of her, brings me comfort, and inner strength. Thank you Patti LuPone.
